Where Trust Will Take You
Hello You!
Today I am gearing up to travel to Spain, which for me is absolutely insane! I never dreamed I would be going all over the World. I am 21 years old and from a small town in East Texas. I somehow (*cough cough* Jesus) ended up in Warrington, England for the last 6 months working for Hope Church.
Being here has opened my eyes to what life looks like when you 100% give everything to Jesus. At a very young age I had plans for my life after High School. They did not involve going to Bible School for 3 years or moving to a different country. They revolved around staying safe in my hometown close to my parents and never venturing out of my comfortable bubble.
The moment I decided to settle for a "comfortable" life, the moment I was okay with not growing or seeking God's purpose for my life I encountered Jesus. That's whats fun about living life with Jesus if you mess up the plans selfishly somehow, some day, some where, when you let Him, He will come in and take over. Not in a Mean-Dictator kind of way, in a Because-I-Love-You-And-Want-The-Best-For-You way.
So here I am, 5 years after saying "Yes" to whatever it was He had in store. I'm in a place I never knew about meeting people I adore and seeing sights of places most small-town Americans only dream about. When I was in charge of my future my plans were bleak and unsatisfying, lacking imagination. They didn't involve traveling or moving, but they did involve selfishly hiding away from the World. I am so glad I chose to trust God with my future. I have stories of amazing places I will carry in my heart forever.
It's funny that trust is one of the biggest things we look for most in a potential partner, we want to know that that person could be loyal and honest with us, that we could be vulnerable with them. When in reality we can hardly trust God with our future long enough for Him to help. Trusting God is easier said than done, but once you do it feels like theres a weight lifted off of your shoulders. Scripture tells us so many times that God does good for those who trust Him, in fact here are some examples:
"Sovereign Lord, You are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant." 2 Samuel 7:28
"Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." Psalm 9:10
"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." Psalm 56:3
"Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you." Psalm 84:12
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
Trusting in someone is scary. Humans fail us and hurt us, BUT the Lord will never fail you. He only does good. The best thing I've ever done with my life is give it to God. I love that last scripture Proverbs 3:5-6 because "leaning on my own understanding" was exactly what I was doing. I was looking at life and my future with my flawed human nature instead of allowing God to work in my life with Hid divine nature.
